Hi all. Just to say some good things about my dealer and Land Rover (for a change).
Went to Guy Salmon at Knutsford to have the tow bar checked. Worst news, new cross member. Had to go in for a week, but had week away in the tin-tent arranged in the Cotswolds with one of my sons and his family.
Land Rover came to the rescue by lending us a brand new 15 HSE Lux which they sent up to Knutsford on a transporter. The bad news ... when I arrived to drop mine off and pick it up there wan't a tow bar or electrics. Dealer fitted these while I waited! Had the car for 10 days. Very nice, but I didn't mind getting mine back. It's done 100K but is still like new inside.
Full marks to both for the excellent service. 2008 D3 HSE Stornoway Grey with Ebony Leather, towing a Coachman VIP 575

So they didn't fit a new fixed tow bar?

They did. I had the removable tow bar on and apparently there was lots of wear, although they had to use heat to get it off for some reason.
LR insisted that the replacement tow bar was the fixed one. I could have had a removable one fitted but would have had to sign a disclaimer.
The only thing I'm not sure about it whether it is set correctly as it is on the lowest setting but looks lower than my removable used to be at. I will have to put my caravan on and try it. If not the tow ball will have to be moved to the next fixing point up the drop plate. 2008 D3 HSE Stornoway Grey with Ebony Leather, towing a Coachman VIP 575

Nice to hear your dealer took the towbar recall seriously. When I called to book mine in, I was asked what type of towbar I had fitted and explained that I'd fitted the fixed version 18 months ago due to the removable one knocking around in the socket. I was told becuase it was the fixed version the wouldn't look at it
