Vehicle Fault- System Shutting Down

Hi All

Please could somebody help.
I have just bought a 2005 D3 HSE in Blue which is great to drive when it works.
It has started with some electrical problems as follows.First the Temperature on the dashboard turns into lines and then the central locking opens and shuts once.
This is followed by the radio screen saying Vehicle Fault - System Shutting Down.
The satnav then goes blank and the Hazzard lights come on.
This happens when standing still, or when driving!!
I have had the wiring loom replaced and the central junction replaced.
The car is currently sitting in the driveway doing this and refusing to start.

Does anybody have any suggestions please?

Kind Regards
Ted Sad

The Land Rover Dealership said that this was due to the drainage tubes in the A-Post being blocked (from the sunroof) and hence the wiring loom had been sitting in water and corroded. This was also the problem with the central junction box apparently

I agree with character it will only get worse if they have not replaced all faulty cables.

I've got exactly the same problem in thath the central locking activates then the radio displays system fault shutting down. I've no satnave and nothing eklse is affected. The car will then not start. If I am running then I go down the street with the hazzard waring lights flashing. I go fo about 10 minuters then everything comes back on.

I've had the High speed and low speed busses checked nothing.

My battery was 7 years old so have had it changed fault reoccured so opened all the doors and activated the central locking the deactivated it.

Problem has not reoccured in last 120 miles heres hoping.

It looks like a battery failure but the system needs resetting

Biancammick, I'd be looking at battery also as the last poster suggested. How old & what sort of journeys do you do. Have yoiu had the ignition or radio on whilst you've been playing with your new toy. Seriously you don't realise how much power your car uses just when it is "awake"
20+ amps just with the ignition on, your battery will be very flat within a few hours.

Check the battery, if it says 850ah, then it is the original battery.

Hi All

Thank you all for your replies to my problem.
Does anybody know if there is a regulator/invertor in the system to stop the alternator from pushing through too much charge into the system?
The car has now been looked at by the RAC who found that the alternator and battery were pushing 15.4V through and the max should be about 14.8V on a 12 V system apparently.
It spikes at 15.98V and this is when the system starts to shut down.
Would this be the central processing unit that shuts down by putting the hazard lights on?

Kind Regards

England

The alaternator has a regulator pack on the back of it to convert the generated AC into DC.

Sounds like it could be the alternator on the way out - but really needs to be diagnosed properly Thumbs Up

Hi All
Is it possible that this car is pushing out 15.4V and 15.98V and it is not the alternator as the dealer believes that the alternator is fine but as far as I am aware they have not taken it out and tested it.

They are talking about a kinked wire?!!!
I would appreciate any help
Kind Regards

Happy New Year to all.
To update- Dealer has replaced total wiring loom and body contral unit as well as central junction box.
They are currently still trying to solve the problem and I have been in a loan car for most of the last 2 months.
Any other clever idea's would be appreciated
Maybe this will help others who may have similar problems, hoping to get to the end of this soon
Kind Regards
