Independent LR Specialist in Croydon Area?
Evening all - this is my first post so here goes.
Our 2010 D4 has developed a small crack in the offside cam cover/intake manifold. This has been identified by Harwoods Croydon (main dealer) as being the cause of the red restricted performance warning light that appears when putting the car under strain (ie going up a steep hill).
The issue is that we have a warranty but it will not cover the full labour rate charged by the main dealer. We have been advised to use an independent garage to carry out the work in order to be fully covered.
Could anyone recommend such an independent LR specialist in the Croydon/South London area?
I am told by Harwoods that the job is quite fiddly and will take approx 9 hours to complete. Therefore I am keen to only use a recommended indie with experience in such repairs.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried Guava at Guildford, they are probably cheaper than Harwoods.DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

Try DAS in Horley (01293 825633) or Moonwhiz in Ashtead (01372 270791)
My personal experience of both of them has been good.

Thank you for your suggestion Pelyma - much appreciated. I will give Guava a ring today.
If any other Disco owners in the Croydon/Caterham area know of a trusted Indy in south London your feedback would be most welcome.
My aim is to find a local LR specialist to do the inlet manifold repair and also for the purposes of future servicing.
Thanks again,
Luis

Thank you lemansfan. The Horley recommendation is closer to me so will give them a ring too.
I do appreciate all your feedback as this is my first LR and I am still finding my feet somewhat.

By way of update I have now booked my D4 in with DAS or "4Tec Automotive" (as they are now called) for the repair work.
I shall report back once this has been completed.
Many thanks again to Pelyma and lemansfan for your helpful suggestions.

Happy New Year to you all!
With the busy holiday period now over I finally have time to report back on my experience with 4Tec Automotive (formerly DAS).
I must say that I was very impressed with the service and the work carried out by this LR specialist based in Horley. The manger (Bob) is extremely knowledgeable and very approachable. He dealt directly with the warranty company in order to get the repair work authorised and then completed everything within 2 days. At my request they also replaced the two front lower wishbone bushes (which were knocking quite a bit) and realigned the wheels/steering.
The car now drives superbly without a hint of the dreaded restricted performance warning light.
Based on my good experience I will certainly be using 4Tec Automotive in the future for servicing and repairs.
With the D4 now fully fit my family and I will be taking it by ferry to northern Spain in August to put it through its paces in and around the Picos de Europa. Can’t wait!
