Hello everyone, i'm new here so just wanted to kick off with a big HI to you all. So far without registering you helped me fix quite a few niggly problems so you are all stars!
Unfortunately my first post is a request for help but I hope I will be able to contribute back at some point.
I have a 2005 D3 HSE and have the common wet floors. I've read all the posts I could find on the problem and think i've covered everything bar a couple of checks.
What i've done so far:
A-Pillars, inside and outside checked, pipes inside ok, sealed up holes outside, new clips etc
Front sunroof drains exit points and bulkhead grommets/joints (where the pipes pass through) checked and ok (the ends of the drains have already beed snipped, previous owner must have had the same problem) water exits fine when tested.
Re-sealed/added extra sealant all around windscreen.
New windscreen top trim, old one had come away.
Scuttle panel re-seated, couple of the clips were broken, noticed the panel was not sitting flat on windscreen - fixed
Aircon drains checked - clear
Additional fixes not so common:
Grommet in floor pan directly under drivers feet was perished, now fixed (stuck my finger in the hole and could feel a second skin, does the floor have a second skin?)
Door aperture seal (off side) removed while checking under carpet, noticed the seal had a break in the metal reinforcement (the bit that clamps onto the bodywork) like the seal had been kinked and weakened at some point and the metal strip broken. The break was roughly adjacent to where drivers feet would be. Now fixed but dont think this could be the problem as water cant get over the lip anyway?
What I haven't done:
I'd like to try rodding the sunroof drains front and back just to be sure, although water does drain freely onto the ground. Is one of those sink drain wires or just curtain wire best? I think the sink drain wires might be too thick.
So thats where i'm up to. It's hard to tell if i've fixed the problem as the carpets were sooooo wet and it's not been raining much. I sucked out about half a litre with my Vax, there was so much water under the carpet that it was filling the channel where all the cables run front to back. I've been checking the floor periodically (been about 3 weeks now) and it's certainly not got any worse, there is no longer any water in the sill channel which is good and the carpet feels dry to touch, however, the sponge under the carpet is still rather wet and does produce water when squeezed. I think this is just water remaining which I couldn't suck out with the Vax.
What puzzled me the most was while fault finding the areas of carpet under the dash where you cant see were bone dry, if the water was coming in from the windscreen or drains surely this area would be wet too? The passenger side was also wet but no where near as bad as the drivers side which suggests the same issue both sides, this also suggests the problem is more likely to be related to the sunroof drains or A-pillars which are now fixed. Interestingly, when I removed the A-pillar external trims the top and bottom holes were already sealed so it's obvious a previous owner has had the same problem, they had used gaffa tape which had perished slightly so I just replaced them. (perhaps this was the problem)
I'm hoping I have fixed the problem and its now just a case of drying out the carpet but with limited free time having 3 babies there's no way i'm going to be able to strip out the carpet as i need use of the disco daily. Has anyone got any tips on how I could dry it out without taking it out? If I take off the plastic sill plate/carpet retainer I can raise the carpet about 4 inches so was thinking of positioning some kind of air blower there and leave it for a bit.
Thanks guys

Try taking the pollen filter out and see if the water is still coming in through there?

Thanks for taking the time to read my post!
Is the pollen filter located under the scuttle panel? I have read some posts about water possibly getting in that way and how to fabricate something to stop it but I didn't have a joint splitter at the time to remove the wiper arms so left it.
That could explain why water is in both footwells as it's quite central so water could go either way, must admit I didn't stick my hand up behind the center console so will have a poke around tonight. It could have been the problem and since fixing the scuttle panel I may have cured it.
Could do with advice/ideas on drying out the carpet in situ.

No probs. I had the dreaded wet carpet but fixed it with a cover under the scuttle panel.
Open your lower glove box and push the two hinges in so you can lower the door all the way. I think it shows you in the handbook if you get stuck. youll have to get in the foot well and look up inside the box, where you can see the white pollen filter. Pull it out and check if its wet. Then youll know its leaking from under the scuttle.
Saying that though it sounds like it may be an aircon leak at the back of your console perhaps???

I'll take a look at the filter thanks. If it were an air con leak would the carpets be getting wetter now I'm using it more in this hot weather? I've checked the 2 drain pipes and they are clear.
I'm hopeing I've fixed the problem during the course of rectifying all the other faults I found and it's just a case of drying the carpet out now, admittedly it hasn't been raining much lately so difficult to know for sure and the last thing to check is the filter.

Have the air con drain pipes become detached at the heater box end?

Checked the air on pipes and they are attached.
I may try turning the air on full blast for a few minutes and then have a good look and feel around the console but doubt it's the problem as the carpets aren't getting any wetter and I've been using the air con quite a lot lately, that said it could be a drip leak and the water is building up over a long period of time.
When I first got the car about 3-4 weeks ago the drivers side was so wet that when I pushed down on the carpet the water bubbled through the holes where the over-mats were fixed and the sill channel was swimming. The sill is now bone dry and no matter how much I press on the carpet the water doesn't bubble out.
The underlay is still very wet and I managed to suck out half a litre with the vax but I don't have the time to pull the carpets out to dry.
Anybody got any tips on how to help dry out? Would a dehumidifier do anything?
