Engine System Fault Code P0046 and P0104

Hi Guys,

I am wondering whether anyone has had these fault codes and found a solution to them. Disco was parked up for 1.5 weeks used for a day. Next day after driving ½ a mile Engine System Fault.

Codes Read from IID tool are P0104-00 (2E) Unknown and P0046-00 (2F) Unknown. Engine in limp mode

1st Code is MAF sensor voltage intermittent fault 2nd turbocharger boost fault.

Searched forum for p0046 changed intercooler pipes both in case of problem and clean MAF and MAP sensors. Cleared fault codes. Engine out of limp mode but P0104 still there. Went for run no problems.

Left for a couple of days went to use Engine System fault Codes back. Initially when clearing codes P0104 cleared and P0046 stayed. Eventually cleared P0046 but P0104 returned. Out driving the codes kept popping up randomly.

I think it maybe low battery voltage car is on charge as I type to see if it has any effect.

I have run live data with P0046 code cleared and P0104 remaining see image below.

Does anyone have any ideas, next job for weekend to see if turbocharger actuator is free.

Many Thanks

MAF signal looks very erratic...

EDIT: And reading zero a lot of the time. Dead air flow meter from the looks of things

Thanks Mikey,

Would you expect the MAF signal to be steady at idle.

Check the connectors to the PCM before ordering, just in case (it lives behind the battery). If all looks ok then the MAF is the most likely.

It should fluctuate a little, +/- 1 or 2 g/s

Indeed it should but seen the same trace with a corroded ECU. The MAF itself was fine and it was the unusual trace that had me checking elsewhere.

Of course. MAF itself is easy to replace, and can be swapped with a known good part, before splashing out on New parts

PCM, not so cheap...

Attacking the PCM contacts with a small soft wire brush had it purring nicely.

PCM contacts all clean no corrosion plugs replaced. MAF trace still fluctuating. So I am guessing it is the MAF. Will order a replacement tomorrow.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks guys for your help. It was the MAF sensor the live data sits at 17.

Have a new issue now the plug won't stay in place. I have cable tied it in place for now will return to dealer in Monday to see if they have a solution.
