My Camping trailer project Finished
Its not a sankey
however i have started a project to build a camping trailer, not to sleep in but to carry all the camping gear for me and the mrs and 5 little darlings.
i have canibalised my old open trailer which i would of liked to have kept but i needed the braked hubs and bits that go with it
My younger bro is an excellent coded welder and he did the framework at cost of steel , (£60 ) all in
and did the frame from old trailer to new frame ready for me to tow home in one day,
heres some pix of progress so far,
panels are going to be heavily primed and glossed 12mm hardwood ply, i was going to use grp faced ply but for and 8foot square sheet i was quoted £165 plus vat, and i would of needed at least 3 of em,
not too fussed with grp, ply will be fine as long as i treat it and seal it properly.
i havn`t made my mind up yet wether to insulate it with 20-25mm polystyrene sheets covered with a 4mm ply, i plan on hopefully leaving it all packed when not in use so its a just add clothes and food and go trailer and i dont want it to get damp or sweat with leaving tent in there ? i am going to fit 240v hook up and install a mains thermostatiuc controlled heater for winter
once panelled i am gonna rack the inside a bit to take the various storage boxes etc and also putting in a false floor to store the longer stuff ,windbreaks etc underneath , accesible from the rear door
Trailer size is 6`x4`x4` with a rear door
Then it will be all LED lighting .
and at some point i might put a rof box on top
pictures of old trailer were taken a few years ago just after a re-furb, it had weathered slightly since then
what dya think
Andy

Got the panels mostly dry fitted today.
and decided that instead of white panels, i am going to spray it all with two pack silver after, i think it will look better in the long term
hope to get all the panels bolted in with button head bolts by next week latest.

Yeh I will be sealing the panels,
I will either use mastic tape or glazing tape or a bead of silicone or similar then once all bolted in I will run a small head of paintable sealer around the metal/panel joint.
