Hooked up twin axle for the first started to drive faults st

Hi don't know if this the right section but here goes . We recently bought an early disco 3 manual ,the gear box went due to no oil in it Censored , so I got a second hand unit fitted that then leaked all over drive Censored but turned out an easy fix Thumbs Up , all good to go. So we hooked up the caravan and off we went got about a mile then transmission faults, suspension faults, engine faults Park brake orange light came on Censored . I turned the engine off and it cleared itself so we continued .It happened again several times all weekend with or without caravan on, the car ran fine pulled like a train considering the caravan isn't far off 2 ton loaded with or without faults on display.I have used it all week (no towing) and no sign of any warnings.has this happened to anyone else or is it something to do with the replacement gearbox or towing the caravan. no other problems apart from the wheel bearing which I will sort out next weekend and a car pulling out on me which blew the horn fuse ( what an awkward place to get too.

I had similar problems which showed up when towing, turned out to be the steering angle sensor was some degree out and needed calibration. For some reason without the trailer it was OK.

Go for the easy ones first and change the brake bulbs and switch.
I was plagued with this for ages until I changed the brake lights
.

Multiple Bongs

Hi Matt,
You have suffered "multiple bongs" there is loads posted here about it.
I have listed some of the causes in this post.

http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic125277.html

Mine was steering angle sensor 22 degrees off.

Other common causes are brake pedal switch, usually bongs just after you brake, and bad or incompatible brake light bulbs.
Original Landrover lamps are osram parts.
see my post about this.
good luck finding it.

Is the battery in good condition? As low-voltage will cause all of the bongs and faults Thumbs Up

Matt as said earlier you need to read the codes and move forward from there Thumbs Up you will need a diagnostic tool to do so , then a repair plan can be put in place , depending on ability a lot of repair tasks can be done at home . Very Happy

Dont know if you're sorted yet, but I had similar problems with my disco shortly after buying it. I was also towing a caravan at the time on the M6 not the ideal place to be when the car decides to start throwing a wobbly. Like yours it cleared when the car was switched off and restarted only to return a couple of times over the next week. Fortunately my brother is a land rover tech and he suggested the first place to check is the fuel filter, the big round one underneath the centre of the car..He reckoned it hadnt been replaced for a good while and has seen many a disco fail in this way. Anyhow since replacing with a genuine Land Rover filter, cost approx £48.00 the car has behaved impeccably. Just a thought, which may save you a load of grief. Martyn
