I always change components to repair an assembly instead of replacement. However I've just ordered a new propshaft due to mixed reviews on bearing replacement. I suspect it is possible but from what I've read, the replacement bearings aren't up to much, quality wise. I've got a Freelander centre bearing in my spares box, I suspect it's the same but I'd need to check. If the Freelander's bearing is a suitable replacement, these are available from LR so quality can be assured, to a degree, anyway. Freelander SE 2005 Auto.

If it was me, I would replace the prop as it comes with a bearing attached. Regarding the compressor, I would start by checking for leaks. Dale

I tried to replace a centre bearing once on my 2005 D3 but it became obvious that they are not designed to be replaced. One has to split the articulating joint and getting it back together was difficult.
I was concerned that having done it, there was a risk of the repaired one breaking up which I did not want to happen doing 70 mph on the motorway. I chickened out and bought a new prop shaft.
There is a previous thread here with some pictures.
