Intermittent Fault - EPB Noise and HDC Fault
Help!
I know there are lots of posts on this, but this is slightly different.
Disco 3 - Automatic Gearbox - 113,000 Miles
Problem 1 - Intermittent EPB Noise/Fault
I have just started to get a horrible noise when applying the EPB which then results in the Amber light coming on, the red light flashing and an error message to say there is a fault and the auto release will not work! The auto release does work as nothing has stuck on, or I just leave it in P and do not apply the EPB.
Is it a coincidence that it started to happen the day after I drove along a track with lots of pot holes?
This does not happen all the time and more often that not, happens after reversing onto my drive, which is on a slope.
Problem 2 - Intermittent HDC Fault
After the system check, it comes up with HDC Fault, system will not function. This only happens when I am at home and my drive is on a slope. Could this be the reason. It only happens at home!
The EPB likely just needs an adjustment. Do not use it until you've had this done or you could be looking at a new module instead.
The HDC fault is a very common sign of a poor battery and/or alternator.
It is also possible that the problems are related but the above is most likely.

Thank you for your reply.
I had better get it booked in somewhere!
Anyone have any recommendations for a good place in the RG7 area and an idea of cost involved?
It's not to bad to do depending on the state of the mechanisms. If the pads are in a state then it's a good idea to replace them.
Do you have a multimeter? If you do, you may as well diagnose if it is indeed the battery/alternator before taking it anywhere. Get a standing charge reading from the battery and then check the alternator voltage. With any luck it will just be the battery which certainly is a DIY job!
If you don't have a multimeter, it would be a worthwhile investment for any D3 owner. Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC

Thanks for the reply.
Yes I do have a multimeter, so will give that a try.
