Screw/bolt in air vent - air box duct (LR014212)
Was checking MAP sensor cleanness today, and spotted some oily strains on airvent-airbox duct. With closer look it appeared that there is some sort of screw (see picture) with rubber seal under it. Rubber weared out and the screw is loose now. Didn't wanted to touch it before knowing what is it, so googled the part up (p/n is LR014212), what surprised me that on the pictures I was unable to see the screw nor I can find anything related in the parts catalogue.
So my curiosity is - should the screw be there and what it is holding? But the real question - can I remove it safely and put a new seal while I get a replacement (its ~25GBP + shipping)?
The closer I look the more surprises from previous owner I find...

Good question, Robbie.
From info I have it's probably not: LHD vehicle, VIN 5A32...., originally sold in Germany in 2005, have service records there for almost 2 years, then in 2007 moved to Netherlands (interestingly enough the printout from their car state registrar shows it with 0 miles on clock at first registration in NL), was there till late 2013 with recorded service history.
At the same time HLDF info even now shows CPU version from 2004_11_19 and sub-CPU version even earlier - 2004_04_30.
What catched my attention in MMM info - Main CPU app version: Development. As a former IT guy I'd say having development version on the production vehicle is, lets put it this way, strange. Didn't wrote on the forum about it, but might be something that needs reprogramming.
Are there any more concrete ways to tell?

Probably too late to check now but the development vehicles usually have sticky residue from some of the additional sensors and wires and quite often bonus bits of tie-wrap. LR does not usually sell-on development vehicles but I have heard of vehicles used for extra testing (say for additional cold climate work) being sold to market as these were full production models.
