Steering Vibration Conundrum
All,
I have a really annoying vibration through the steering when -
1. Been driving for a few miles and things have warmed up
2. More noticeable at speeds over 60mph, terrible at 80mph
3. More noticeable when foot is on the power, but is still there slightly when not
4. More noticeable on a motorway that has a slight bend but is still bad on the straight
Things I have checked -
1. Visual on everything underneath and cannot feel anything loose
2. Felt all brake disks after the vibration and there is no heat in any of them
Things I've been told it could be -
1. Gearbox judder - use some judder fix lubricant, this would be annoying as I have had the gearbox flushed twice in it's 130k
2. EPB actuators, this is why I felt the rear disks but they were stone cold after coasting into a motorway services to check.
3. Front Diff, not sure how this is diagnosed?
4. Drive shaft/half shaft, again not sure how this is diagnosed?
5. CV Joint, again not sure how this is diagnosed?
6. Wheels needs balancing, surprised it not there all the time if this was the case, it tends to only happen when things have warmed up.
And finally it has been into two specialists that cannot find anything wrong, my thoughts are they have not driven it as I suggested to witness the problem.
Any help on what checks I could do next or recommended specialist that knows there stuff I would really appreciate it, its driving me mad?
Thanks Rich.1964 Series IIA SWB Truck Cab - gone

Okay, after jacking all wheels and checking for play I think the bearings are sound. This weekend I simply swapped the front wheels to the back and it appears from my first drive to work this morning that the problem has gone.
Numpty mode was fully engaged why I didnt do this sooner or indeed get the wheels balanced, the big one for me is why the vibration was only occuring under load and as soon as I lifted off the power the vibration would go.
My gut feel is it is a combination of may be an unbalanced wheel, flat spot on a tyre with a suspension set up that's in need of a refresh, particularly the front lower wishbones.1964 Series IIA SWB Truck Cab - gone
