Disco 3 cutting out on me.
While driving along, the engine system fault will kick in, a few seconds later the disco will die completely. The first few times, the car would start after alot of turning the engine over. Our last recovery guy, got me to putmy foot flat on the gas pedal. He sprayed easy start into the tube by the airfilter and the car starts. It takes about 15 seconds and the engines revs shoots up and then the car is fine again for about another 15 minutes of driving. Im assuming it is either the HPFP or the fuel pump itself. Has anyone had the same problem on here before.

Added to this...
I am assuming if the HPFP belt has broken, the car would not start at all.

Yes indeed.
First thought would be fuel pressure on the LP side (pump, fuel filter etc). There have been quite a few of these on the forum recently but you really need to get your fault codes read; otherwise we are at the educated guessing stage.

Robbie thanks for clearing that up for me. I have been looking at trying to find a "How to" at getting the LP fuel pump out. But before that I will be doing the test as recommended by another post to try nail it down.

I unfortunately have no access to a code reader and this is my daily drive (to the station and back), i am hoping to get the best guess i suppose to be able to resolve this.

I'll be coming past Waltham Abbey Saturday morning if you want the fault codes read. would need to be close to the M25 due to time constraints.

Ah right, following the instructions in the other link
Yes, looks like a problem. Is that as soon as you put the ignition on or after while? With engine running or without?Bodsys Brake Bible

Whilst in all probability the LP pump has had its day there is a small residual chance that this is wiring issue causing high resistance. When you drop the tank do some power and ground checks at the old pump before unboxing and installing the new (and rather expensive) pump.

Robbie thanks for the reply. I have ordered the part, as I am paranoid about having only the one car and it not working. I will have a good look tomorrow anyway to see if I can see any wiring issues when I take the tank off. Do you have any tips for getting the tank out it is it rather self explanatory.
