Air suspension fails 450 miles from home |
|
First post on the forum 1 month and 2k miles into ownership of my 2005 TDV6 HSE with 160k on the clock. Truck was cheap so I couldn't resist. There were faults showing even before I took delivery and being an ex-RR L322 owner, I knew things were going to go badly, but I just love these trucks.
Put the car through an MoT following tie rods, new dash squab + bits and bobs at £700. Drove it up to Glasgow to visit in laws and as soon as we left for the journey home, the following happens..
Noticed the car was sitting low on the off-side rear corner
Drove 5 mins...
Suspension fault - Normal height only.
30 MPH Max
We get over 50 mph...
Lowered suspension
System Fault
Special Programs off
Suspensions fails, drops to it's knees and is bouncing all over the place..we creep back to In-Laws. Her dad's local mechanic plugs it in and cites about 7 random error codes, but it's beyond him, so he advises I take it to a specialist.
We rent a car to get home... conversation was limited on the journey back
Could any Glasgow forum members please recommend a specialist who knows their way around these trucks and their suspension issues. It's sitting at the inlaws for now until it gets sorted and I can bring it back

It is Disco Mickey on this forum that you want. He goes to the car as well. But you will need to post a few times before forum will let you do a PM, so just keep replying on this thread.
It is probably something very simple that has gone wrong. A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

I had a very similar problem a few months ago. After having some work done for the MOT. Originally thought it was a faulty ride hight sensor as I got different fault codes each time I plugged in (left hand side then right hand side). Turned out to be a hair line crack in the pipe running from the air compressor to the rear of the vehicle. Fairly quick fix. Disco Mikey will have it sorted in no time.

Couple of simple things to check, side light out or brake pressure switch could be faulty, both have a track record of dropping the suspension.
If not +1 for DM Goodyear Duratracs

I think you mean brake light out, rather than side light. Mods:
Front Fogs + Halos
FBH Remote Control
The 1st Ever RRS Modded Grill
Garmin Nuvi + D4 Surround + Reversing Camera.
D4 Steering Wheel.
Rear Boot Spoiler.
Twin Brake Lights.
Wing Mirror Indicator Repeaters.
Long Roof Rails

I'm not scared, I'm outta here.
