Tow bars - permeant/detachable

Dear all,

I have a permeant tow bar on my D3, but for a number roof reasons am contemplating changing this for a detachable tow bar...

Will this be a big thing to do?
Will there be any adverse effects on my D3?
Does anyone have any comments?
I read some where that the vehicle might need to be re-programmed?

Thanks

As long as it's not stuck in the receiver it's easy to remove,
No adverse affects,
Why the hell do you want a removable one? Look up on the site for detachable towbars. Some have been slackening in the receiver. Stick with the fixed one.
Only my opinion

You read wrong, there is no programming involved in towbars, not even in fitting the electrics

Thumbs Up

Thanks for your comments - much appreciated.

The reason for the change is to help out a friend who needs a permeant tow bar (but has a detachable one). I don't really need a tow bar, but would like to be able to tow if needed in the future, so was just looking into the feasibility of swapping them over...

See above - may be worth your friend getting his checked first anyway in case they replace it with a fixed one for free. Wink
