Lights
Hi guys, changed the cap less sidelight bulbs today and I have a question what is the function of the halogen bulb that sits in the same area as the side light bulb, apologies for asking a silly question however it just struck me it does not illuminate on Main, dipped , fog etc. so I am confused as too it's function, any advice appreciated.
Regards
Paul

Lights
Hi Martin I am presuming it only comes on when cornering?
They come on when cornering or when indicating below a certain speed (around 30 mph, might be 40 or 50 km/h).
Stick your indicator and lights on and you should see it light up.

Re: Lights
I'm amazed that you never notice something was different when turning, I only recently drove one with corner lights and they really make a big difference. The difference when turning into a dark lane or driveway is IID PRO

I really miss the cornering lights when driving my other vehicle , especially useful these dark nights out here in the sticks .
Yeah, I really like my adaptives. Can't be beaten on novelty factor either.Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC

Do the D3 main headlamps turn at all? as I noticed when turning onto my drive the other night the left hand headlamp beam appeared to swing back to the straight ahead position?
The separate halogen main beams don't. The xenons do - when on main beam and dipped. If you stop they'll revert to the straight ahead position. I believe they de-activate at motorway speeds too.
The xenons also adjust their vertical height as you drive - according to readings from the suspension.
This is obviously only if you have the Adaptive system - I'm guessing your Metropolis will have these.
PS: I suggest to fill your profile in. Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC

Now off to fill it out now, sorry never gave it a thought
I did twig it had xenons when starting up in the dark and I saw the self levelling check on the headlamps, but was genuinely amazed they turned as well.

If they are directional xenons they do a cool little dance when you start up 8)
Well I think it's cool anyway

Not all xenons are adaptive though. Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC

you're right, just because you see them level up and down when you start, it doesn't mean they are adaptive.
They need to do my aforementioned 'dance' (side to side as well as up and down) to be true adaptive

Out early in the dark this morning and saw the headlamps do their dance side to side and up and down, not seen that before
