FBH Mystery

So i have came to the conclusion my FBH must be fried on the internal electrical side of things.

Im rigging it up to the free software the correct way and I'm pretty sure its the actual FBH that is not responding.

The FBH has a good power supply going to it but I'm getting noting out if it at all no response, the program just tells me its not connected even though it is.

My question is has anyone else had this problem ? Is it a common problem when they have blown ?

My next step is to remove it and strip it to see if there is anything visibly wrong with its brain Big Cry

What pins are you connecting to? I had to swap the ground to pin 4.

The free software is particularly fickle regarding which laptop and connectors it will accept.
Loads of threads on problems regarding failure to connect etc. even when units are known to be good.
Your best option is to find somebody on the forum who can help you for a few pounds, rather than spend hundreds replacing a potentially perfectly serviceable unit. Rolling Eyes

Hi Mikeo, I'm using this

I have opened it up and soldered the wires into place to make sure they are the correct ones internally. The two ground pins inside are connected together using one wire so on this particualr OBD it makes no difference to what one is connected and all other wires are correct using a pin out diagram K-LIne then 12v line

I don't think the Webasto software will work with an ELM based adapter.

Certainly I've never heard of it working, you need a very basic K Line OBD adapter.

Thanks Martin,

Ill order one online before i pull it out. Would anyone have an ebay link to one that defiantly supports the program.

I found a pinout of the ELM and seen it had a K-Line pin so just presumed it would work Crying or Very sad

Not 100% that this one works - mine is one I already had but it looks utterly identical

But this is a USB-OBD K line adapter, nothing more or less, and that's what you need:

Hopefully others will come back and let you know ones that they have bought and that work.

I've updated the Wiki page to mention this Smile

I was running it on Windows 8.1 - all updates installed. The Samsung Slate I was running it on only has one USB port so I decided to use that one. Smile

It now has Windows 10 Technical Preview on it. I'm pretty confident it would still work.

I seen somewhere a serial port can also be used. Would this require a special cable or would it just be a case of cutting a cable up and then using the bare wires to connect it up ?

Thanks in advance Bow down
