Normally you need to go to Scotland for this level of wild :-p
A great day had by all, except the D4 driver, but that's what ya get when you take road tyres over sharp rocks
More pictures and a few videos to follow what is this life, if full of care?

On one of the sections we drove, we were followed by a group of mixed 4x4s that seemed to be just cutting their own detail... I made a little video comparing my descent to a series 2(?)s descent that was in their group. The series 2 was not in the best of shape, as evidenced by the video...

Looks familiar.
There is some great lanes around there. Who did you go with. Was it a guided tour or something you arranged yourself. Looks like you had a good time though.
Cheers

Excellent trip There is indeed some beautiful scenery in the Lakes.
Its a Series 3 by the way 8) Plastic grill and headlamps in wings are the clues if your'e pedantic like me Whilst I agree the descent by it was less than graceful, I do have some sympathy. Have you ever tried driving a Series LR over ground like that? It is like doing a training circuit in the gym, at the same time as trying to stop your elbow being rammed through the door! You do not generally have good directional control at all times! Having said that, they are very satisfying to master.

Having had a IIa many moons back, I have to agree with Gareth - directional steering is not pin sharp.
More of a case of writing a letter to the wheels telling you'd like them to consider changing direction....
I still have fond memories of a passenger telling me he'd prefer a go in a tumble dryer next time thank you.
Couldn't see anyone guiding the Series down - that might have helped him as well.I see no ships........

Apologies to any Series enthusiasts Do all their doors do that when it gets bumpy?
I would like to get a IIa at some point for a project car, though it'd probably enrage a fair few die hards if they heard what i wanted to do to it (coils, engine, lift, rollcage, winch etc)... I just like the agressive look
The day was run by UKLandRoverEvents... I've done their Yorkshire Dales tour previously and it was a cracking day!
I've got about 30Gb of video still to go through so will put a few more up... would be nice to get names for all the lanes driven 8)what is this life, if full of care?

"Couldn't see anyone guiding the Series down - that might have helped him as well. "
Their group leader was actually the one guiding me down
But then he just off and left the rest of his group to do it by themselves
I tried shouting a few instructions and pointing directions but either they weren't heard/seen, or they were ignored.what is this life, if full of care?

If the leader of another group is the one who guided you, what are you getting for your fifty quid?A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

I'd already been given pointers on how to get down and was fairly confident, but for some reason while his group waited he decided he'd help me out... I can't complain, it was a tricky section and any was appreciated... It just might have been a good idea for him to give it to the rest of his group as well.what is this life, if full of care?

The first time I did the Lakes,I was a complete novice, and went with another group of Scottish forum members, the majority of whom are experienced off-roaders.
They were very patient and helpful,as certain parts can be daunting until you learnt to trust what the car (and driver) are capable of.......showing the first in line the route, and then shooting off is unacceptable in my view..."Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...
