Air con

Hello to one and all,

I am looking for help again....

Is there any clear indication whether or not air conditioning is working or indeed not? I have had the pipe that sits above the air suspension system replaced and a couple of O rings on the rear pipework replaced. I am told that it is now working fine but i am not convinced. I thought i would be able to here the air con stop/start when i operate the 'ECON' button via a 'click' from engine bay. I also thought the engine speed would dip/raise slightly when turned on/off? Again, this is not happening. I would love to know some basic checks if any of you fine fellow LRD3 owners can point me in the right direction.....ANy advice would be greatly received!

Best regards

Ryan

Look for the a/con compressor and the two pipes coming out of it, with a/con switched on one of the pipes will get pretty cold pretty quickly, most a/con are set up so no gas pressure means a/con pump clutch will not activate

I might be wrong about the D3, but on our Polo, the aircon air compressor stops when the outside temperature falls below 5 degrees C. If D3 is same, make sure its warm enough to test.

The test I used yesterday was put a weather station sensor with a temp display in front of the dash vent. AC off sensor reads ambient, hopefully above 8c or so. Temp at min, AC off, air at max and air through that vent. Let the temp stabilise then switch AC on. Temp reading should go down. AC off temp should go up. Wont work for me at the mo as ambient is +1c. Sad
