Wrong Diagnosis

Had to pick up SWMBO minus her D3 from a local indy at lunchtime. She took two youngest kids to school, about 17 mile trip each way, after she'd dropped them off the car just wouldn't start and she waited nearly 2 hours for the RAC to arrive who said it was the starter motor at fault and that the battery was fine.
Don't ask me how but he managed to get it started but said she couldn't turn it off again until she got to a garage. Fortunately she was only about 3 miles from an LR Indy that we have not used before who to be fair looked at it straight away and decided in fact it was the battery at fault and fitted a new one for £140 which she paid Confused However. as they came to bring the car out of the workshop they realised all was not well and after more tests eventually agreed with the RAC man's verdict that it needed a new starter motor Embarassed Embarassed Rolling Eyes
Needless to say, I'll be picking her car up tomorrow and making sure we get credited for the battery she didn't need Thumbs Up

Start counting the days until you DO need a new battery. It is that time of year!

True, and It's bound to be the next thing to go if I tell them to put the old one back on Laughing anyway the way I see it is that a new starter motor & battery are not a bad couple of Christmas presents for SWMBO Rolling with laughter

She is probably wrapping your heated rollers and illuminated make up mirror as I type.
