I just opened the bonnet to fill up the screen wash and noticed this. I think I could have a mouse living somewhere in the engine bay.

Yes, I just found one in there (between bonnet and lining). I could hear it scrabbling around while I was working in the engine compartment. My attempts to stun it by thumping the lining failed (I could see him) but I've left a couple of traps by the front wheels and have since caught 3 mice. Of course the chocolate is probably attracting mice from miles around under my car but what can you do...

Fingers crossed they don't go for the fuel tank elbow next as that looks like a pig to fix.

Now we're talking. Mr. Green
I had a mouse problem in my garage some years ago ( we didn't have a cat then Rolling Eyes ) and their bravery was something to behold and I became an expert at catching them.
Firstly, you need to employ a technique known as "the can't take it away method". This means you must use a bait that cannot be stolen from the trap as they are experts at nicking bait. The best bait by a long way was Nutella, mice just love chocolate, followed closely by peanut butter. Neither of these can be stolen.
Secondly, and this is a golden rule, the longer you keep the mouse at the trap, the better your chance of a successful kill, hence why my first point is so important, so use a good dollop of bait to keep them there. Thumbs Up

Happy hunting.

Had the exact same! Even had them inside the car - noticed when my mints and chewing gum had been gnawed! Mouse traps and black chocolate and chalked up 3 mice inside!

Three traps in the car, one sonic device (240 volt version ) under the bonnet. Next comes the electric fence - mines and any other device to keep the little critters out!

I've got a couple of these pre-baited ones ....very effective....except I've had to anchor them down as a stoat was dragging the whole thing away to eat the mice once I'd caught them for him Rolling Eyes

I swear by these little fellas with a bit of peanut butter (or I use chocolate outside as peanut butter goes a bit funny if it gets wet)

I anchor them in the lofts as they've been known to disappear without trace... Shocked

Just found this under the bonnet this morning! Little Censored Censored Censored turds!

And this is the damage to the engine cover...

I've also found evidence of them under the battery cover in the Leon too! The Nutella will be getting deployed over the weekend.

I know I shouldn't, but I always feel sorry for the things getting killed in those traps. I remember SWMBO's in laws having a mouse problem and some of the traps only catching them by the shoulder. Horrible, slow way for anything to die regardless of the being damaging pests.

Mind you, seeing the mess that these Censored are causing, my pity has disappeared. Going to have a look under my bonnet when I get home for evidence. If there is any, my first job will be to sack the cat for not doing his job properly and then buying some of those proper traps you guys have been using. They look much more effective in making a clean kill than the old fashioned type I used to use. Thumbs Up
