Cyclists and Flashing lights

Approached a cyclist yesterday evening, he was on the cycle path on my side of the road coming towards me.

he had some humungous strobing light on the front and blinded me so much I had to slow right down as wasn't sure he was on the path or the road ,

I'm sure it cant give enuf constant light for him to see, just to annoy the Censored out of on coming cars

end of rant

At night your cycle MUST have white front and red rear lights lit. It MUST also be fitted with a red rear reflector (and amber pedal reflectors, if manufactured after 1/10/85). White front reflectors and spoke reflectors will also help you to be seen. Flashing lights are permitted but it is recommended that cyclists who are riding in areas without street lighting use a steady front lamp.

I followed about 10 of them on a dark unlit B road. All had flashing lights mounted on different bits of their bodies. Wondered what on earth I was approaching. Was so shocked I even forgot to try and get them in the ditch.... Shocked

Need it in London - I prefer flashing but with a constant one on the bike (not that I've commuted in for a few years due to working abroad)

So many fecking idiots on the road (in cars and vans as well as bikes) that every possible thing you can do to be noticed is generally done to try and give yourself the best chance possible.

Too bright is daft though, there's a difference between being noticed and being a distraction.

But they achived their objective of making the cyclist be seen I suppose. I sometimes put my rear on a slow flash but never on the front.
