2007 D3 Diesel HSE - 95k miles 84 months service
Hi,
My D3 is now 84 months old and covered 95k, rather than 105k, as per service schedule numbers.
Local independant garage is servicing the car and recommends to wait on the belt changes as they look fine on inspection.
Should the belts be changed at 84 months regardless of inspection condition?
Many thanks

On a 2007 (7A VIN) D3, I would changing the belts AND the oil pump as a matter of urgency. The belts may look fine; The oil pump may be a completely different kettle of fish.
You've done well to get 95k out of it, to be honest.

Hi again,
Thanks for that.
I've had the car from new and it has had a new alternator and battery a while back, and other than that nothing major under the bonet.
The recommended change for the belts is 105k - so why am I lucky to get 95k out of them and/or the oil pump? Am I missing something?
Thanks
JC

Belt change is 7 years or 105k, whichever comes first. Is it worth waiting 10k miles?

Hi again,
Any recommendations for any independants in Leeds area for changing the belts?
Cheers
JC.

This was on a 2007MY D3 with only 34k miles. There are lots of other examples of premature failure on here. Just search for oil pump and you will see what I mean.
Green Oval seem to come recommended in the Leeds area.

Hi again,
Only passing on what I've been told......
How much am I looking at for the belts to be changed outside of a service?
Thanks

+1 for the lads at Green Oval, always happy to have a chat about options, have had a couple of bits of work done (and might be heading back for more shortly!), and had no problems at all.
And for what it's worth, with a £4k+ bill for new engines, I don't think I'd be hanging onto my old belts longer than I needed to!

Search for a Forum Member called Flack, he's based near Preston
He did my Cambelt, Fuel Pump Belt, Oil Pump, Water Pump & aux belt tensioner for a tad over £700, half what the dealers wantedAdmin on Facebook Discovery 3 & 4 Ownersgroup
Cambelt, Fuel Pump Belt, Oil Pump & Water pump replaced by Flack
