Tyre wear on all 4 outside edges
Hello
I have an issue with all 4 tyres feathering/wearing on the outside edge
When in at the Landrover dealership for a recent service they advised that there is slight play in the off side rear bottom bushes - but there are no knocks or bangs on braking or going over bumps and the car drives straight and true
A very good independant land rover mechanic has also looked at all the suspension bushes for play and says they are ok and that I only need a 4W alignment done - the alignment was done with a Hunter Alignment machine and there is now only light feathering on the tyre edges
My queries are
Is there an allowable amount of play/movement in the rear bushes or do the rear bushes need replacing to correct the steering alignment
Should the feathering be worse not slightly better after having the 4W alignment done - all green and within tolerance on the Hunter print out
Shouldn't it have been only OSR tyre that shows wear as this is where there is play in the bushes
Should I just get the alignment checked/done again

Assuming all bushes are fine, and 4 wheel alignment is spot on, your next call is wheel bearings.
I recently had my front tyres wearing on the outside despite all bushes and 4 wheel alignment done. I read on the internet it could be wheel bearings. Indeed they were getting noisy so I replaced them, and the tyres were due for replacement too. Still too early to tell if it was the cause of the wear on the outside edge though.Dennis

I checked all the wheel bearings for play yesterday and there is no movement or noise from them when driving and corneringCurrent:

Mine had no noticeable play (that I could detect at least!), but they were very noisy. The difference in road noise that I always thought was tyre noise (GG AT) was like night and day after replacing them.
Hope someone else has any other ideas Dennis

We have just been away on holiday and done 500 motorway miles with a 6 month old baby asleep in the back so it isn't really excessively noisy, thanks for the info though
I think I will get the alignment rechecked then might try the wheel bearings, they have done 119,000 miles
