Does it stop when the oil pressure light goes out - might just be the tappets before the oil pressure comes up.

There are chains on the camshafts, but the rest are belts, has your car lost the two blankets that cover the injectors, these two mats are there to sound proof the injectors ticking when they are being energised .

Flack Thumbs Up

EGR rattling is not uncommon. A chain tensioner failing is a lot less common but there have been 1 or 2 on the forum recently.

Don't forget injectors, tappet noise and belt tensioners.

Thumbs Up

Gets a ticking on startup
Established its not a spanner
It made an odd noise, so you left it running
And now we are onto suspension noises

Confused

And, jackets?

Sorry sorry

It almost sounded like a challenger 2 tank, all the things that have been suggested it doesn't seem to be making the noise on startup, I asking could the suspension leg make a noise by any chance

Was this sound coming from the front left? If so it could be the FBH. Mine makes a noise, just not a very loud noise.
And no an air spring is quiet unless it has an air leak. The compressor makes a noise, again not loud.
