Faulty fuel sensor

Car conked out in the fast lane yesterday & had to be recovered. Sensor showed 47 miles ft on the clock.
I was a mile from the services! Dealer replaced faulty sensor under warranty but bloody annoyed as it took 3.5 hours out of my day. Lesson learnt, never trust a sensor!

Sorry to hear that and thanks for the tip. I tend to look at the range remaining rather than the fuel gauge nowadays on all of our cars. In fact I've forgotten where the fuel gauges are!

Range remaining was showing 47 miles! These things happen I suppose but now know not to trust technology.
