Folding axle stands - Who has them? |
|
Who can recommend a good quality 3 ton folding axle stand to support the D3?
Thanks
John

Thanks

I'd be worried that they'd fold shut at the wrong time but no doubt they lock 'open'. Stew,
2010 D4 gone but I really loved it

I'm currently looking for a decent pair. I cab't really justify a pair of non-folding as well as a pair of folding so I'm just looking for some really good quality folding. That way I can use them on the drive and still keep one in the car.
These are looking quite good at £32.99 a pair...

Still welcome to alternative suggestions though.
Cheers,

Sorry, no they're not folding. Wish that they were as they take up a bit of space in my already packed shed. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Are you sure those are high enough? I have 3 pairs of normal axle stands, and at 430mm the tyres are still touching the ground.
Thanks

£32.99+VAT=£39.59. But for 2 pairs:
"Buy one get one free! Purchase one pair of stands and receive a second set of stands free of charge - four stands for the price of two!"
Edit: not foldable though.

Hi G
So where do put your stand under the car? I put mine under the chassis rail. Do you put yours there as well, and do your wheels clear the ground?
Thanks

No issues with clearance but mine is coiler might behave a bit different when raised from Air suspended one
and yes I put them under the frame in most cases but also under front arms jacking points

Hi Al
I was looking at the AS6000F actually, as the AS3000F only has a max height of 415mm. (AS6000F has a max height of 580mm) My car is currently on axle stands, all 4 stands are on the jacking points and those are at 450mm, and I still cannot get the wheel off. The wheel still touches the ground, and I have to jack the wishbone up another 10mm in order to get the wheel off.
So if you can get your wheel off on a 415mm stand, then there must be something wrong with my suspension.
Hmm need to investigate that.
Thanks
John
