| Looking forward of buying a discovery, got some questions. |

Hi everyone,
I'm looking forward of buying a used discovery 3 or a brand new disco 4. However, there are some questions that haunts me.
My first question, which is the most important one is, with so many electrical systems on this SUV, how about the water protection for all of them? I think disco 3 & 4 are like 80%~90% electrical for off road and on road performance, if I take it out to the wild and into the jungles, is the water crossing, especially deep water crossing going to damage the electrical systems? I know the air compressors are just behind the plastic wheel well. Is it and all the electric cables waterproof? If I did a water crossing even if the water is not that deep, the head of the truck gets in the water first and water got over the hood for few seconds, I'm sure it is not going to damage the engine if I had a Safari snorkel installed, but what about all other electric compartments in the engine bay? Are they waterproofed?
One more quick question… Because this truck is so electrical system depended, is it reliable if I take it out to the regional areas in Australia? Thank you for your patience of reading and answering my questions.

Wally,
I note that you are in Townsville, have a look in the Australia section of the RRS part of the site.
Zilch is setting up for a Cape York trip from Sydney I think in his RRS (same basic systems as a D3 or D4) so he is a good source of advice regarding their capabilities.
