attempted wheel theft.....RLD saves the wheel

Only had the car about 8 weeks and one of the first things I brought was RLD wheel protector plate.

Today, I thought I'll put a rubber U trim around the edge of the plate and discovered this:

The stupid thieves tried and failed Rolling with laughter .....one 19" alloy wheel & tyre still attached.

Just shows how vulnerable and in-demand the D3 (&D4) spare wheel is.

Without the RLD wheel protector I would have lost a 19" alloy & tyre and had to replace the winch mechanism.

My advise to get RLD wheel protector now, it does what its says and its top quality. Thumbs Up

Have always thought the laser cut letters were the weakest point though.

Thieving scum.....

Even though the letters are laser cut and may be percieved as a weakness, they still didnt get the wheel protector off, or the wheel....

Well done Ray!

You'd have to seriously open up that hole significantly in order for the usual tool to get through to the vulnerable bit. Thumbs Up

Glad it's done the job you bought it for! Thumbs Up

Can only think of two ocassions where car was left for hours in an unkown area/ car park on a family day out.

Don't really check the underside, as long as I see the rear underslung tyre, I still have the spare wheel.

I've hammered back in the protruding metal but material used is good stuff. The stupid thieves should have stopped at the first Censored letter.

I thought I would keep it pristine with those rubber sticky domes for when the plate rests on the ground, no longer pristine but still usable.

Worth while investment definetly or wait until your wheel gets nicked, buy a replacement wheel, tyre and winch and then get the wheel protector......no brainer.
