D4: Post MOT Health Check

So my first MOT came and went without any problems (and only £29 to boot) but the health check I asked them to carry out before the manuf. warranty runs out highlighted:

1. Lower arm bushes deteriorating causing a slight knocking when braking hard but not excessive at this moment

2. Slight corrosion on front to back brake pipes

Have asked them to consider both issues as warranty items (pushing it on bushes I guess Smile ), but what do you think?

Can't help but think that as it has passed the MOT they would be able to argue that it is still OK Confused

Keep pushing, I'd suggest that the brake lines are probably worth the go, they'll probably argue that the bushes are out of scope but if they are doing the brake lines at the same time they may well consider it.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

As you say, if you don't ask...

Got them looking into it anyway as there's possibly a deal to be done. There's a FL2 on the forecourt, which SWMBO's interested in. 07 plate GS with 72k. Reckon I could get it down the <£10k.

Just need to sell her Subaru Legacy now Whistle

Resubmit for an MoT elsewhere and advise them in advance that you are concerned about deterioration of the lower arm bushes & corrosion on front to back brake pipes?

In the alternative take it to another LR dealer and ask for a P/X valuation; draw their attention to deterioration of the lower arm bushes & corrosion on front to back brake pipes, and say "I presume that these are warranty issues"; which you can fix before I P/X this vehicle.

Wales

does the original warranty not have MOT failure cover? - if so take it to another LR dealer to do & as others say point them out.

Or if they are not that serious then, if theyre not noted as 'advisories' on the current MOT get a MOT failure insurance thingy.....

If you have a good main dealer, just ask them. Remember, warranty work (even though it's at a reduced rate) and servicing are the bread and butter for most main dealer workshops.

They should want the work as much as you want it fixed, so if they think that they can get away with it and LR will pay up, they'll do it.

Edited to add: Just read your original post and see that you've already asked. Thumbs Up

@gje: It didn't fail the MOT and there were no advisories. The complimentary health check they carried out afterwards notified me of the issues.

@LT: Bang on! I did try to explain to the service guy that a good dealer makes more money out of a customer through service than they probably do in selling the car originally. Add to that the fact that I may well be buying another LR in the very near future, et voila!
