Goes into 'extended' when 'access' selected

Apologies if this is covered elsewhere but I couldnt find a reference to it...

When my wife's '05 D3 is put into 'access' mode it flashes up a message 'clear obstacle' and goes into 'extended mode'. It doesn't do it every time. Any suggestions as to which expensive component might have failed?!..

Thank you!

The vehicle thinks it is stuck as the suspension will not move low enough.
Mine turned out to be the front lower control arm bushes being stuffed.
Could also be the air suspension is not venting.

Generally, I have found it to be the compressor, in almost all cases.

It happens because the car cannot dump the air quick enough.
However, it could be a blocked dryer, or pipe someplace

That was the sign my compressor was on the way out......also "vehicle raising slowly" was another one...
The fault code,as both said above, read as the compressor not exhausting properly Thumbs Up

Thanks guys! Knew it wouldn't be cheap!.. It's overdue a service so I'll get the compressor checked.

I picked a full working compressor up off ebay from a salvage vehicle for £56 a couple of years ago as a spare, but never had to use it , then sold it. the compressor on my 2006 D3 was sold to my brother in Canada and its still going strong and its now 8 years old and covered a couple of hundred K miles.

so, try a second hand salvage if you don't want to spend £500 on a new one Thumbs Up

seal kits are about £90 if its that the problem

there is one second hand compressor about to end currently at £150 Question

Why would the compressor relay need changing with the replacement compressor as stated in the eBay ad?

I'd always change the relay. It's only a few £ and it works like a Trojan so is expected to fail at some point b

It has been known for the relay to overheat, and stick "on"

The new relay is a better design, and should be changed with the new compressor Thumbs Up
