Quite simple really, I would get a better price for the new vehicle buying it straight, many dealers now a days are looking to make money on both ends......
The dealer will likely sell this for 32-34k so someone will make a nice saving if they buy it private?

This may sound like an obvious question, but I can see no clues - TDV6 or SDV6 ?!

Thanks for the tip Bob, but that is not the car for sale, as the icon car is a Stornaway grey TDV6 XS not a Galway green ???? HSE

Read the above Surely I can't be the only one to realise you get a better deal and it increases your ability to negotiate a discount with no PX? Regardless, someone will benefit from the saving...

I was genuinely puzzled, as in my experience it makes no difference to the final deal if you have a px or not.
The dealer/trader will have calculated a price for the vehicle that's being traded in and you either take that price or replace it with cash/credit. Only choosing the later if you can achieve a better price by selling the vehicle elsewhere.
On the last deal that I did, the dealer didn't want my D3, but had it "underwritten" for £10k by a trader who takes vehicles that are either too old or too high mileage for the dealer to sell themselves. The price for my D4 included this £10k. As it happens I sold the D3 for £10.5k to a friend who's a trader.
Either way, the agreed price for my D4 remained the same.
PS good luck with sale, lovely looking D4

No worries, the dealer offered 30k for it against a new Landrover list price, if I get 30k for it private, I'd be expecting a few thousand discount on a straight sale, hope that clears things up?

BTW, forgot to add, it's a 10 plate not 60 plate if it was registered in the first half of 2010.
