Which Castrol Edge Titanium do I choose?

Since Castrol EDGE 5W30 has split into two new products:

Castrol Edge Titanium C3 5W30 and
Castrol Edge Titanium LongLife 5W30

Which of the two is the one to use in our engines?

I still can get some of the old Castrol EDGE 5W30 stock but they are 30% more expensive then the two new products.

Bump--

No-one using the new Castrol Edge Titanium blends? Everyone on the old Magnatec or other brands?

Problem is Magnatec and the now obsolete Edge 5W30 are way more expensive then the new Edge Titanium blends.

Just want to know if I need the C3 or the LL (LongLife).

I have started to consider the same questions. I think the A5 oil has replaced A1. But agree it is becoming more confusing as Castrol change their oils. At present the Castrol site only recommends Magnatec

Yes, the old Edge 5W30 could be used, but the new Titanium ones are or only for cars with DPF (C3) or that need special LongLife (LL) oils.

Back to the good old Magnatec A5 then. Nothing wrong with that.

Interesting that sponsors like Opie no longer stock that in 5W-30 form. The best I have seen on line is despatched by Amazon at £18.50 Inc vat for 4 litres.

Having said Opie don't stock it, I then stumbled across it on their eBay site. £52 for 8 litres.

Now I am on a mission! I have just researched the A B and C codes on engine oil. Surprised to see that A1 to A5 is for petrol cars and B1 to B5 is for diesel. Now I am confused as the descriptions on manufacturers web sites seem to imply that A or B specs can be used in either diesel or petrol. It is the C deities that must be used if DPF fitted.

You're on the same path as I am!

Magnatec A5 I found is ACEA A1/B1, A5/B5. So both A5 and B5, same oil for Petrol and Diesel engines.

Less left now Thumbs Up

Looks like the oil codes and descriptions are in part just about marketing - often the same oil could be packaged in different ways but contain the same oil.

I found that you could buy more than one if you did it in separate transactions. Got a spare lot whilst it was a good price.
