While my thoughts go out to the unfortunate person/family and hope that nobody was hurt in this incident it just goes to show that the d3/4 is not invincible especially when conditions dictate otherwise. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but we all need to recognise when it's not worth it. I climb walk mountains and the most important part of it is when you decide nay it's not worth it lad. I also tow a caravan and was on the 66 today and it was no place for cars towing caravans no matter how big it is.

This is the disadvantage of all the new vans mass weight dropping to around 1500kg average, with the volume of side wall with the winds at the level recently, it will try and fly eventually!!!!FFRR SC 4.2

I still think its a fair point. I just wonder how many out there thinks the d3/4 can tow in any conditions and drive in any conditions. Most of us know the disco can't beat the law of physics but sure some think it can. A friend of mine got rammed by one last winter apparently she was going way too fast up a hill and when she got to the top she could not stop the disco and ploughed into his car. Yes it can happen to any other car. But maybe some people think the disco can cope with every condition.

Stupid as it was to tow in those winds the disco is still on its wheels. Many other cars would have been on their roofs.

I used to own a caravan park and storage business, once when the wind was very extreme (80mph winds) I closed the park, one customer threatened to sue me if I did not allow him to take his 'van out of storage I let him take it and he traveled less than 2 miles before it and his car was on its side. It is stupidity like this that puts up the cost of all insurance and in my opinion insurance companies should not pay out, after all it is not an accident, but caused by incompetence.It can when others can't,

Missed 2 days holiday earlier this year due to not wanting to tow in high winds. In the end it's just not worth it. Not only do you run the risk of damage to your own setup but you are putting other people at risk also.
