I don't have photos/music/videos/anything personal on there though...flickr

I didn't until last month, when my father managed to screw up his PC and we found out that he wasn't keeping up with the backup system that we had put together for him last year (simply saving all his files onto a usb stick every week).
We have now set up a joint cloud storage account which means that (a) I can help him with any file issues when required, and (b) I can access files from whatever PC/laptop/tablet I am using at that time. I don't put everything onto the cloud, just files which are used frequently or that are current.
Like many, I am wary of the security of the different systems and prefer to pay for a modest service on which I place information which, on the whole, is neither commercially sensitive nor (hopefully) likely to get me into hot water
Does anyone out there have experience of using cloud based software? My concern is that it will simply bee too slow with out very rural broadband service which struggles to average 1MBpsCurrently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE

If you read some of the feedback reviews on the original link then there are grumbles about this. Freely admit that goalposts may have changed since then.
However, site owners posted just a few days ago that

If you use a cloud to access data from several computers, rather than as additional storage space, then BitTorrent Sync is well worth a look.
It's uses the 'torrent' technology, to sync folders between your various PCs, over your local network or over the web.
I'm running it on Windows and Linux PCs, a BSD server, a Raspberry Pi and on my phone
In the simplest case, it keeps the 'working' folder on my office and home PCs in sync, meaning I don't have to remember to put stuff on a USB stick all the time.
