Webasto 1533 Timer...
I have had a search, but there is lots of conflicting information, and couldn't find a definitive answer, so...
If I were to buy myself a 1533 timer from german Ebay, a connector kit from the forum shop ( http://www.disco3.co.uk/shop/index.php?act...oductId=51 ),and some extra length of wire, is that all that is needed to get it up and running?
Already been in touch with a few of the sellers to see if they can ship them over for an even better price, just want to make sure I am not missing anything My D3 Build Thread

If you do not have the red wire connected to Pin2 on FBH connector, you have to buy one from the shop. Otherwise you will be all right with what you buy from Germany and the shop.LR D3 S Black, Auto TDV6

If you want the timer to pre-warm your D3, you'll also need a way of "pressing" the flame button whilst the car is asleep Mikey.
Most modders go down the remote switch route but others use the GSM switch.
You'll at least need one of these aswell: E-Bay Linky
That's the one I use to trigger my 1533 timer, which inturn, fires up the FBH.
Stand near the car, press the A button and the FBH fires into life. Mods:

Why not get a gsm dialer as well then you can start it with a phone call instead of just pressing the flame button.. you can get cheap dialer's from the Bay and box from maplins to put it in..

I really like Pete's product as it clears faults and attempts restarts as it goes. I know you have the kit and experience to do this yourself but it does make the whole deal easy to live with, especially with an FBH that is getting on a bit.

Be aware when buying from German sites it is common practice for payment to be made by bank transfer not Paypal, choose a supplier that accepts Paypal.

I have the full BAS system, with GSM, as Robbie has said, it attemps restarts if it fails to fire straight up as part of the system, and it also texts me if the battery get too low as a warning, OUTSTANDING bit of kit,
WORTH ever penny, can only but praise it and congratulate Pete on another brilliant bit of kit. FFRR SC 4.2
Unless you start up at exactly the same time each day the timer on its own is not much use - you need a remote.
I now have the one I mentioned in the above link - works fine but no paper instructions and the online instructions are written in a language that has a vague resemblance to English!

I built my own kit with a timer from ebay germany, a pack of connectors from maplin, a remote plipper from ebay (£9.99), a plastic box from my local electrical wholesaler and 1.5m of 3 core 1mm cable.
So it came to about £70 and took an hour to put together. I keep the plip near the front door and press it when I get in from walking the dog, which is 30minutes before I leave for work.

BAS kit - the carriage charges to Scotland are really high though you might just be far enough south to avoid them.

The momentary version should suffice.
What you're effectively doing is operating the flame button on the timer. I usually press for a second or two and upon release my timer operated led illuminates and I know the prewarm has commenced.
