After almost 100,000 miles - and almost 7 years old - I'm fairly confident my intercooler hose will be one of the next items to fail on my D3. It already looks quite oily on the outside and I'm sure that it has become porous (maybe already has a split), causing my D3 to feel a bit down on power. As part of my ongoing preventative maintenance programme, I'll be replacing it before it fails completely.
Do I just replace it with a standard LR rubber one? Or do I replace it with something a little more robust that will withstand the heat and oil better?
BAS silicone or Allisport silicone? On the face of it, the Allisport ones look better value (more of them) and appear to be more readily available.
Thoughts?

I have just replaced mine wirh a standard LR one, if the origional lasted 100k why won't the replacement? I couldn't see the point of paying nearly twice the price. Club Narpy Torch

Well, yes, there is that.
I think we have been especially fortunate to have our IC hoses last 100k miles. Others on the forum have not been so fortunate and I've heard of the LR rubber IC hoses failing after only 50k miles or less.
I've seen the effect of high temperatures and oil on the standard LR rubber ones and agree that silicone is the way forward. The inside of the rubber LR hose has pretty much turned to mush!
I could probably manage to do the intercooler inlet and outlet hoses myself but that small one can wait.

The large IC pipe took me less than 45 mins for getting tools out to packed away, the hardest part was undoing the splash guard.
