D3 sump guard recommendation

After recent off road play in the D3, it showed the vulnerability of the steering / sump area. I was wondering of any particular guard recommendations that still provide access to the towing eye.

Plus are these garage fixes rather than DIY, ta Keith

EDITED - Pics now added...
I've got a sump plate taken off the old D3 that is now surplus to requirement(as it doesn't fit the d4 Sad )

Its not in pristine condition as it has a few scrapes on it. Whistle

Also its not an RLD fabrication(uncle ray Bow down ) but was manufactured by Neil D and fitted by him just prior to an off road jaunt at LRE in Bala about 3 years ago.

They can be DIY fitted LITERALLY in 15 minutes (after removing the existing plastic 'guard' thingee) and is help in place by 4 bolts. (can only find 3 Embarassed )

The plate gives access to the front towing eye and has a number of holes in the front to allow water to drain away.

It also had the benefit of being a convenient central jacking point (using a trolley jack) so you can lift both front wheels at the same time. Razz

Thumbs Up

RLD for me as well.

Mine has seen some serious use and has some deep marks in it but remains firm and intact.
