EGR Blanking- Has this been tried.
Gday All,
I tried the normal style blanking on my 2008 TDV6 and ended up putting the EGR pipes back on and back to normal.
I am wondering if you could remove the EGR valve completely and blank where the valve bolts onto. Then remove the pipes that go to the Y piece and blank them, leaving the EGR valve plugged in and just cable tie it somewhere in the engine bay.
I understand this could only be tried if the EGR valves are in a working order when its done.
If the valves are working what is the advantage in removing them?A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

The idea is to disconnect the EGR system without having to get the software updated. When the EGRs are working the car wont go into limp mode and if you can fool the ECU into believing that the EGR system is connected that's the end game.

Perhaps I have misunderstood but once blanked there is no practical difference in your proposed method to the original method of blanking, save for the EGR flopping about in the engine bay.
The lack of appropriate gas flow is what the ECM is looking for when it triggers the EML.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

OK , sorry I misunderstood what triggers the EML. I will have to investigate the emulaters that are mentioned.
Thanks for your replys.

I have blanked mine (2007) and all is well as the egr's are still working.
When they eventually fail, my plan is to buy 2 used egr's and remove the motors and plug those into the connectors. The ecu will think the actuators are working and problem solved.....I think!!! The BAS emulator is a better and complete solution but for the sake of a few quid, I will give that ago first.
