BAS FBH controller operation? |
|
Normally the FBH will only fire up if the temperature is 5 degrees or less, I assume that if a BAS controller is fitted it will run the heater regardless of temperature?

Hi Nick,
Yes it will work when activated regardless of temperature. Regularly press it to keep it from clogging up and ensure it is ready to go.
Great mod which I could not do without.

Thanks Colin, I did think the controller wouldn't care about the air temperature as the car isn't on/started. But you never know.

Sorry if some have seen me mention this before, but its a great party trick to try one day.
On a cold and damp day, park in a open car park like Tesco etc - stand well away from the vehicle and press the remote for the FBH.
Watch the faces of people as they see smoke bellowing out from underneath - its hilarious
Do switch off before someone calls the fire brigade though

So, am I correct to think that that best way to get remote operation of the fbh before you get in the car is to use the BAS controller? Do I assume LR either can't or won't do this, or is it a cost issue?

LR can't do it, but there are other ways - you can build yourself a remote FBH controller for about £70. There is a guide on the forum, but all you really need is a Webasto 1533, an RF plipper, some connectors and some cable to wire it all in with 2014 D4 XS
