Three little....pipes
Hi.
Can anyone shed some light on the function of these three little pipes please.
They are tied together across the top of the throttle body and run from the back of the engine to the front.......from somewhere to somewhere else?
They appear to be Vacuum hoses of some description and in this case they have been damaged/deformed by the throttle body below them whilst having had the top engine cover above them.....ie Chafing and imprinted by the throttle body over time.
I discovered this whilst inspecting the harnesses and hoses during an Oil Change.
I have scoured the D4 pdf manual available for download on this site though it has no index and the text links do not work; so I have been trying to find the function of these three little pipes to no avail.
Any wise and helpful knowledge made available would be kindly appreciated.

Hiya
Wonder if it’s part of the engine emission control hose , ref LR020186
Have a look at my last picture in the thread, I found a clip that held the tubes in position had broken. Can't tell on my phone if same thing has happened to yours..

Vacuum control loom. Used to operate the EGRs, TSOV and exhaust bypass on secondary turbo.
So not something you want a leak on. Easy enough to change and comes as a complete loom with actuators and not too pricey from LR either!Joe

But on PC now and I'd say it has broken.
it doesn't just tie the bundle to the stud, it holds it away from it too. so if it's broken the whole lot can move side-to-side and backwards-forwards enough to rub on all sorts of edges.
I fashioned a replacement from p-clips and rubber sleeving to keep it in place without introducing somewhere else for it to rub against and left part of it in place as it was brittle and i didn't want it to break and damage the tube.

ditto. I wondered what they were too when I had the cover off doing the oil (and now know ) and figued they would rub through as well so added some additional fabric tape to the "key" rub points already there. Might put some more on now I know what they are!
Whilst we are looking "in that area", anyone know what the part number for the rubber seal/collar on the engine cover that the oil filler neck goes through is? Mine is split(ing) and a bit has already come off. Only a matter of time before a bit falls off dropping into the open oil filler tube since you have to remove the filler cap before you take the "dusty/sandy/gritty" cover off. Obviously I would clean the area first an be careful, but I can hear the "oops" from the tech if it ever goes in for some work so best get it done before that . Good design that..In today's world, if you contribute something, you don't contribute enough. If you contribute nothing, you receive everything.

Many thanks for this info...... and indeed for the other replies offered. I shall be back to this when days off permit.
I am assuming at the moment they are still holding out as I have no DTC's logged surrounding the above hardware linked to these pipes. They are though very worn and damaged and I will have these fixed forthwith for peace of mind.
