Where should this plug into???

Whilst lifting off the lid of the battery compartment, I found a male connector plug sitting on top of the battery... unconnected! I've uploaded a couple of pics in my gallery to show what I'm on about (I'm not sure how to drop pics straight into the body of this post - sorry!).
Anybody know what it's for, or what it should be connected to?

Just had a look at mine DG It should connect to a male end that comes out of the wires coming from the grey junction beside the battery. The connector is part of the cluster of wires that come from that junction. The loom has several yellow wires twisted tightly together. Your junction is right there.

Hope this helps

It is for a transit relay wg=hich comes from the factory to protect the battery. Doesnt NEED to be plugged in, but there is the other half of the connector taped to the loom around the battery someplace

Mikey

If it is plugged in, should it be?

That's exactly what I first thought, BUT... there is nothing coming from the grey junction box, nor is there a spare male/female connector (i.e. the other half of the pairing) twisted together with the rest of the wiring loom (I've had a good grope around behind it, too).
Any other thoughts?

Mikey,
So you think leaving it unconnected would be perfectly harmless & I shouldn't start getting paranoid about finding a flat battery tomorrow morning??

unconnected plug

Just checked mine and I have the same plug, unconnected lying on the battery, just like your picture. I also have the female connector for it taped to the loom from the grey connector.

I connected it up and ran the engine for a while. Couldn't detect anything different.

Nah. Wouldnt worry about it. Wont do the car any harm.

You can plug it in if you do find the other half of the connector though Thumbs Up
