suspension fault - replace harness?

I have an issue with my suspension, I was finding one corner was occasionally throwing up an error as I was driving along, with the indicator bar (and wheel) dropping to the bottom of the screen, then after a few miles resetting itself. No issue with actually driving
I could never put the car in access height, it would always lower and then throw up an 'extended mode' message
Also when left overnight the car would lower itself to the floor

So I replaced the rear right height sensor and now I get the red suspension fault dash light & message and telling me its limited to 30mph and the car is sitting at its lowest level

I tired putting the old sensor back on, but that also throws the red light and message.

I am wondering if my fat fingers might have damaged the wiring as I removed the *&^$%# clip for the sensor.

Is this the most likely issue? How easy are these harness plugs to change? I assume it's this that I'd need?

Are they the same for all four corners?

Did you recalibrate the suspension after you swapped the sensor? New sensor will throw up faults of its own unless you have and when you dropped the old one back in it wouldn’t be sitting in the exact same position as it started.

Thanks
I havent calibrated yet, because the IID manual says the car should be in standard height (raising to off-road and then lower)
but I cant raise the car up using the switch at the moment due to the error

as the old sensor no longer works now, likely a wiring problem.

Ideally find out which wire using volt meter. or inspection or insulation looking for lumps

I cant see any issues with the physical wires

I could just order some replacement harness wires, but thats going to take a couple of weeks to deliver and means I am out of a car.

I did try doing a calibration but none of the corners would raise up manually using the IID tool

Hi Endeavour

Plus 1 what others have said , check out the wiring to ensure u have the correct voltages there, at the height sensor input wire u should have 5Vdc , signal wire is the one that sends the message back to the suspensions ecu and ur ground

Enclosed a wiring diagram so u can see which wires according to which height sensor u need to check

Also I’m pretty sure can check ur height sensor input voltages using ur gap iid via the live data settings

Plus please don’t think I’m trying to teach u how to suck eggs, if ur able to put ur suspension into off road height to allow u more room and place some axle stands underneath just in case the suspension moves and have ur hand inside the wheel arch

Hope that also helps a little

Nope, maybe you have installed a "wrong side" sensor... on Discovery height sensors are different side by side and have different rods front to rear.

Double check you have installed the right one Thumbs Up

Tip: if one sensor goes out of scale the air suspension ECU send an "extended mode" prompt and the car will raise over the offroad height... during night at first leveling (happen every 6 hours) the extended mode is not an acceptable status and the car goes to the bump stops. Bump stops height is "out of scale" of height sensors and the car will not raise up again.
Try to reach a tire shop and ask them to raise the car with 2 or more jacks at least 2 or 3 inches, than cycle the ignition and start the engine. If i'm right the suspensions resets to normal height themselves.
Now it's right time to calibrate the new sensor Thumbs Up
