Sunroof drain replacement
Good evening,
I like many others have had the wet floor syndrome on my HSE. Following on from the brilliant forum advice, I prodded and rodded to no avail. Eventually ascertained that both my tubes had become detached at the grommets, either with my prodding or just failed themselves.
Anyway, have had a 2ltr lemonade bottle acting as a drain reservoir until I get a chance to replace the tubes.

Ordered tubes from dealer. Was given part no eeh500100 and eeh500110- these tubes are not the same length?? Are the drain tubes a different length on each side?? Or have I been given the wrong one?
How do you replace, have read extensively on the forum. Can the driver side tube be replaced by removing the inner arch?? Or does the whole wing have to come off?
A pillar, Upper headlining I have traced what needs doing here.
Passenger side, again inner arch off?? And if so is it still necessary to remove the fuse box?
The new tubes have a different grommet, no star/X.

Any hints or tips very much appreciated on how to replace the drains much appreciated, thanks. PaulBuck blue HSE. De-tango, MY14 rear LEDs, Narpy Grill in shadow chrome, Refurbished steering wheel (beanie), phone software upgrade (Geoff) V8 brake upgrade (Geoff), Gunmetal wheels

EEH500100 is the tube you require, same for both sides and does not have the star/X.
I found the passenger easier to replace after reading on the forum on how to remove the CJB. My advice is that you follow the exact route of the existing drain tube. I found on the passenger side the drain tube 'had' to go through a very tight gap/ hole otherwise the CJB (with the block connectors back on) would not go back properly. I didn't want to squash any of the wiring and connectors behind.
The driver side I found harder to do as aligning the outlet in position wasn't fun. From the outside, you only remove the wing vent (& the sponge pad routing the air duct), this is where the outlet sits.
As I did the passenger side first, I thought that I had to use the same route. So I taped a thin flexible nylon rod (to act as a draw wire), at the end of the sunroof roof end (old) tube and pulled through the grommet/ outlet end via the drivers foot well. Once this had been done, I taped the new drain tube and pulled back up to the via sunroof end.
However, I don't think it matters having a draw wire on the drivers side as there is certainly more room, but not enough room to easily align the grommet from the inside to the outlet in the wing vent. I do remember disconnecting one of the connectors to the suspension ECU just to give me a little more room. I had to use long nose pilers via the wing vent to reach and carefully not to tear the outlet when pulling the grommet through into position.
No more wet carpets.

Thanks for the info fino.
It hasn't made me any less nervous!!
JLR quoted 2 hours labour which made me think can't be that tricky but the more I read about it the less confidence I have!Buck blue HSE.
