Standard FBH operation when engine warm?

Hi everyone

Does the FBH continue to operate when the engine is up to temperature (when below the lower limit external temperature)?

For instance, you start the car from cold at 0c, FBH kicks in and you drive along, engine gets up to temp, but then you hit a load of traffic or start driving slowly in a city. Engine temp starts to drop, does the FBH kick back in to keep it at correct temp?

Thanks

Yes if the external temperature is below 8 degrees and the coolant temp is below 78 degrees
I may be wrong on the temperatures but you get the idea of how it works

Thanks

I suspected this might be the case because the other day when it was about -4 outside, the car got up to temp on the gauge (so needle horizontal / half way exactly) and then when I got to my destination in a city, after some slower driving I stopped and the FBH was shutting itself down after I had switched the car off. I just assumed it was giving it some assistance to keep the car warm.

Clever stuff !

Ahum... that is its sole purpose.... it IS an auxiliary heater.......

Because the efficiency of this engine is "too" high, to get it warm enough below 7 degrees celcius...

It is NOT a parking heater......

Can be upgraded to one though, but by default... auxiliary heater..
 Best regards

In the winter the FBH can be running pretty much the whole time, the engine seems capable of dumping heat very fast in low load situations, notice how quick the temp guage drops when car swicthed off for 1/2 an hour or so when cold outside.
