Squealing sound from engine.

Good evening troops…. Anyone had a squeezing type sound coming from in / around top / rear of engine? Happens when you Rev it.

L320 3.0 TDV6.

After replacing the engine and finally taking her on her maiden voyage and discovered some more “challenges….”

Noise started happening under load going up hill…. Been told possibly Inlet or Exhaust Manifold or EGR or perhaps Cross Over Pipe…. Trying to gather as much info as pos before ripping it to bits again. 🫣😆

Thanks.

From what you have said it sounds like a cracked crossover pipe. However, if you've had major work done it could well be just a leaking exhaust gasket.

I had similar. Slight drop in performance but nothing too bad. Squeal got worse with revs. Turned out to be a snapped stud holding the end of the crossover pipe on. Still a body off job but considering I thought my turbos were failing, it was a tad cheaper so I was somewhat happier.

Had the belts done, rear brake lines etc whilst it was off to get best value for money.

Yeah that sounds similar…. wouldn’t say it had much drop in performance but sounds pretty bad.

Wonder if something has let go as soon as it went under proper load…. 🤔

Took my time with the rebuild so pretty sure everything was solid but you never know eh.

I could get it off the driveway on tick over without a squeal, but as soon as I applied any accelerator, it would sound like a banshee. At least I could get out of the view of the neighbours before it made any embarrassing noises. Laughing
Good luck. Hope you manage to sort it.
