I "lost" a hyab unit once.
We reversed it down a narrow gap between 2 buildings with a loaded trailer (about 18 tonne on it).
The trailer went down fine but the tractor unit with the hyab on the back went through the tarmac and sank to it's axles.
It took 2 of those big winch trucks to drag it out.
On investigation afterwards a broken drain had eroded the ground away under the tarmac. The 20+ tonne tractor unit was just a bit too much for it and went straight through.
