Any solution for LED trailer lights ?? |
|
I’ve done a search, but turned up tons of results, too many really to wade through.
So I thought I’d take the lazy way out………
Has there been a solution found to the annoying pulsing of the indicators on an LED equipped trailer ???
Or are we still stuck with having to use filament bulbs on our trailer, in order for it to work successfully with our D3’s & RRS’s ??

Obviously not then
I guess I'll just stick with "Dinosaur era" filament bulbs in my trailer, oh well

can you expand on "annoying pulsing of the indicators"?
LED's have a very small load compared to a bulb, if its related to the indicator relay then there may not be much you can do, but it depends on what problem you are getting?

Search on "Pulse Shunt" will return some solutions.

Some of us have bought commerial units to fit between the trailer plug and the D3's towing electrics.

When you plug in a trailer equipped with LED lights, rather than traditional filament lamps, the indicators flash continuously, as the D3, RRS & FFRR, sends a pulse to the lights, to detect if a trailer is present or not.
A regular filament bulb won’t react to this pulse, as the current is too low & the pulse too quick, to light the resistive load of a regular bulb. An LED however, reacts to this pulse.
There have many DIY solutions proposed to solve this. One was to wire a resistor in the indicator circuit, to replicate the resistive load of a filament. But I think there have been very mixed results with this solution.
So I was wondering if there ever had been a proper fix found. As I have a set of LED laps for my trailer, but have held off fitting them due to the “pulse issue†!
Thanks PCH I'll search for Pulse Shunt.
