SD4 Commercial - Engine Output Spec?

Hi all,

This is my first post but I've been on the Defender2 forum for years as I've got a moneypit sitting on the drive. I've now got an opportunity to get a Disco 4 Commercial at work. The question I've got is about the power output of these. I'm looking at a couple on sale and they are:

Vehicle 1: 15 plate SDV6 Auto XS. 255BHP. 325 lbs/ft. 0-60 11.7secs.
Vehicle 2: 16 plate SDV6 Auto SE. 255BHP. 442.56 lbs/ft. 0-60 8.8 secs.

I guess I need to know if this is an anomaly on the website or if LR did produce different engine levels of the Disco4 commercial? I've had a look around and can't seem to find an answer. It will be doing a bit of towing at times so I'd ideally like more power but prefer the colour and trim level of the 15 plate!

Any thoughts appreciated.

Cheers

Steve

Cars with Euro 6 engines (ad blue) were re-mapped and give slightly better performance (and a better gearchange).... although I can't comment on the accuracy of the figures given.. someone with more knowledge will be along shortly to advise.

I have a 15 plate D4 and find the power is ample for the towing that I do (3.5t Ifor trailer sometimes fully loaded) if that helps?
I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Thanks for the info. I've just found the info that AdBlue was introduced on the MY16 versions so that may account for the difference in figures.

Although I've also just noticed from my limited research that the reduced power spec is only shown for 64 and 15 plate vehicles. I wonder now whether it may just be incorrect on the web?!

I'd say that if you're towing 3.5ton loaded then it would be more than adequate for my needs!

Hi,

So I found this very frustrating when I was looking for my commercial. The anomaly is auto trader usually not classifying correctly.

The TDv6 was lower output but the SDv6 were all 245 or 255 and 442lb/ft. (600nm).

The TD stopped in 2011 and had 208 bhp by the end and the give away was the 6 speed auto. The earlier TDv6 were 190hp and 384lb/ft but were gone by 2011

Basically anything with the 8 speed ZF box (pop up dial) 2012 onwards had 255 and an identical 600nm. The SDV6 with the 245 bhp was only 2009 to 2011.

Ad blue didn't alter the specs as far as I know just the emissions.

it is confusing!!

check here for the exact figures and dates.... Very Happy

This must be a per market thing…

I had a D4 MY10, VIN start SALLAAAG4AA, type registration code e11*01/116*0233*08. Wikipedia claims that it’s “SDV6” but it was labeled TDV6 at the rear and in the registration documents. It had 180 kW equaling 241.3 bhp.

Sorry.....I should have qualified.... yes this is what I found in the UK. It could well be different in Helsinki.

Did you have the 6 speed being a 2010 year? I'm sure you did but it looks like you had the SD engine as the TD was 208 max (well.... in the UK anyway!)

Yes to 6 speed. AFAIK the 8 speed came with MY12.

Not quite true..the early D4's up to around 2011 i think were badged TDV6 and had 245bhp. SDV6 badging appeared after that with an associated power increase of a few HP. At this point TDV6 badging was reserved for the commercial with 210bhp or similar. Mine is a 2010 XS TDV6 with 245bhp.

Is yours 6 speed or 8speed?

At the end of build cycle there will be anomalies where the crossover occurs, as they use up parts and decals left over but you get the gist from the above.

The OP was asking about a 2015 & 2016 vehicle so the above post holds correct. The crossover period is irrelevant to this question.
