Restricted Performance

Got this fault yesterday got home and read the fault codes with my Nanocom Evo - nothing Wink

Went out today, same fault. Had a read on here and some of the same symptoms are there, a weird noise on overrun and it just sounds different.

A suggestion was to get it really warmed up and as many revs as possible for a few miles so I decided to thrash it as best I could using the gears to keep revs up. Got a few bits and pieces at B&Q , started it up and hey, ho, no fault Wink

Thrashed it back home as a punishment - only to my pocket as it was showing 18mpg average Laughing

Had another look on Nanocom when it struck me there is no engine ECU listed Neutral am I missing something? Anyway no fault recorded.

I have a few days left on the Dealers Warranty so what's the consensus? Was it a spurious fault or is it heading towards turbo, ECU or whatever expensive repairs?

It's a 2010MY D4, does it have a DPF?

My Audi A8 used to smell really hot after a fast run when it dumped its DPFs contents.

How do I tell?

Does it kick in with fault at 2500 revs ?

That's what I had

As long as I drove below that all was fine. Easy to change up on paddles

Mine turned out to be a mouse chewed turbo hose

I did have a fault code tho but can't remember it

i think it will be the valve in the turbo hose os the os of the car it a control valve in the boost hoses that switches between main turbo and primary turbo. it just sticks so needs ceding up

I got the Restricted Performance coupled with a yellow engine icon this morning.

Checked Fault Codes But nothing remotely related.

I'll check it in tomorrow for diagnosis/surgery 😳😖🔫

If you're getting the 'restricted performance' message, but the engine is not actually being restricted, have a look at the fuel-filter housing - the wiring connection there can lead to this message (and the 'water-in-fuel' message). Solution is then to replace the housing.

Cheers,

Gordon

It's intermittent at the moment, overnight it went away again....... Whistle

The revs are restricted to 2,800 or so when the fault is on the car.

Why does it not show up on my Nanocom Evo? There doesn't seem to ever be any engine parameters listed, does the Nanocom read engine ECUs?

Still confused,

Stew Confused
