DSL, that's what I was going to say, but I gather from his earlier posts that the dealer already has it and is "working on it"... Sad

It is not the distance travelled when over filled with oil it is the motion of the crank going round that comes into contact with the oil and is enough to do serious damage. I would be after a new ngine or car if they have overfilled it.

If your engine revs took off on its own as you stated it was most certainly running on its own oil due the fact it was overfilled when serviced if they put 12 litres in it as the invoice states. This will certainly result in catastrophic damage to the engine. I am afraid to say your D4 is most certainly fooked.
Best the dealer starts digging deep in their pockets.

Went to the dealer and he confirmed that he used 11 liters of oil. He told me he got a bulletin this morning telling him to decrease 1 liter.
He said that it is strange that the manual says only 5.7 liter. We took it out for a spin and it worked perfectly.
I told him I want a litter from Land Rover telling me that no damaged was done. He told me that he had e mailed them and was waiting for reply.

Can anyone please tell me the phone number of LR customer care where I can call and confirm what my dealer said?

Maybe the manual says 5.7 liter because LR want 5.7 liter in it? I think even the average M1 Abrams tank doesn't take 11 litres of oil.

This is what I found on the LR site regarding Customer Care:

Does that mean the capacity is somewhere between 5.7 and 10 litres of oil Question

Shocked 11ltrs Shocked

Looks like a classic example of a technician getting sidetracked during your service and forgetting he's already replace the oil as its almost double the max.

Don't settle for anything less than a replacement...outragous.

Hope all ends well for you

I am off to Italy next Wednesday so I will put it to the test. I have noticed that when we checked the level of the oil when I went to the dealer it was on MAX but after one hour went checking again and it was ¾.
I also noticed some black smoke and at one time when I pushed it made like blue smoke so there must be some oil somewhere getting burned.

Good to hear Very Happy Just make sure you get a written guarantee that the overfilling caused no damage so if it packs up a few months from now you can slap it in their face.
